Invisalign

So after around 8 years of wanting my teeth straightened, I have officially completed my Invisalign treatment! The BEST thing I have ever done.

Attachments are now off and it’s just retainers at night for as long as I’m wanting my teeth to remain straight.

If you’re considering doing something like this just for you,  Fine Orthodontics are now offering FREE remote consults, so cool!

Being able to see what kind of treatment you may need, from the comfort of your own home! Find out exactly just how long treatment will go for, costing and not to mention a before and after image to compare. Genius.

A few top tips from my own personal experience…

  • Start today if you’ve been considering it - my treatment was complete in just 9 months, my partners just 7

  • The first couple of weeks are all about getting used to a new routine, taking them in and out is a challenge to start, before you know it you can do it with your eyes closed

  • The attachments that help do the moving of each tooth can feel a little sharp in the beginning, this will ease, it will probably make you wear the aligners more, which is a good thing!

  • Scanning in every week was a breeze and it literally takes 3 mins, the clinic can monitor you this way meaning less appointments. My favourite part was seeing a change every 7 days- phenomenal!

  • After eating and drinking be sure to brush your teeth, otherwise you will find a build up on your aligners

  • Carry a little on-the-gong travel kit with a toothbrush, toothpaste & floss. It’s a big help when keeping on top of hygiene

  • Keep your aligners clean by rinsing in cold water every time you remove them from your mouth, warm/hot water will change the shape

  • Crowding on the lower seems to be VERY common, I had an extraction to make more space and the gap was closed within around 9-11 (weeks) aligners

  • Aligners need to be in your mouth for 22 hours (approx)/day- eye on the prize!

  • If I ever had an event on (pre covid) Xmas party, Dinner, Drinks, Wedding, I would always just take them out. A few hours here and there is not the end of the world

  • Keep an extra aligner case in your kitchen when you take them out for eating, as they are clear they can easily be mis placed

  • Try to keep them away from pets, as they also love the smell of the saliva

  • Only take them out when you’re eating, drinking anything other than water and brushing your teeth

  • Yes you sleep in them, no they aren’t uncomfortable, they just feel like a slim mouthguard

  • Your teeth can get a little sensitive as they are constantly moving, this is quite normal

  • I literally talk ALL day (no surprise there!) and my speech was never affected. The only time I ever noticed a slight slur was at the end of the day when I was getting tired

  • Your teeth, for as long as you’re alive, want to naturally move. Retainers MUST be worn at night for as long as you want your teeth to remain straight! Thats probably the BEST advise I can give after working for an Orthodontist!

  • At Fine Orthodontics, it’s an all inclusive treatment with no extra costs. The only service you will pay for is a 3D X-ray at the start of treatment as well as replacement retainers if they become lost. Otherwise all aligners, appointments, scans, photos, additional aligners, retainer set at the end are all INCLUDED.

  • If I can say one thing, is that you get what you pay for. Dr Martin Fine is a specialist in his field, with over 30 years experience in Orthodontics, I’ve never met someone so passionate about what they do- don’t be fooled by the price tag when you’re researching online, most of the time there are LOTS of extra hidden costs when you find a company sounding to good to be true!

As always if you have ANY questions or want to know anything more, please reach out! I am always happy to help.
