Bacon and Cheese Rolls
I love recipes like this because they’re simple, require just a handful of ingredients and are a great way to get a little extra protein into the day without making things complicated. I saw this online, tweaked slightly and think I’ve nailed it!
Ingredients:
Makes 9 rolls
1½ cups Greek yoghurt (360g)
2 cups plain flour (300g)
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp garlic powder
1 cup grated cheese
½ cup diced ham or bacon
Method:
1.
Add the Greek yoghurt to a large bowl.
Sift in the flour and baking powder, then add the salt, onion powder and garlic powder. Mix until everything starts to come together into a dough.
2.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured bench and gently knead until smooth.
Now add half of the grated cheese and half of the diced ham or bacon and knead them through the dough.
Don’t overwork it, just enough to bring everything together.
3.
Divide the dough into 9 equal portions and roll each one into a ball.
Place onto a lined baking tray, leaving a little room between each roll.
4.
Sprinkle over the remaining ham/bacon and grated cheese. If you can some spice, sprinkle through some chopped up Jalapeños.
5.
Pop into a preheated oven at 180°C and bake for approximately 20–25 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
