Honey Soy Marinade
MARINADE-COOK-EAT
How often do we roll around to a new week and think, “What shall I cook this week?” All the time! This is where my trusty Honey Soy Marinade comes in. These ingredients are often pantry staples, we often have all of them on hand so this recipe can literally be put together in under 5 minutes. I love using the Capilano Honey MGO 30+, as the higher the MGO the more potent the honey, which makes it nice and sticky.
You can use chicken, beef or prawns for this recipe, and once in the marinade can keep for up to 3 days. A good one to prep on a Sunday, so you know you have a quick meal ready to go for the week ahead. The great thing about this recipe, is that the protein is your base, you can have it with rice, soba noodles, lettuce cups, a big bowl of salad or even pop it on a wrap with some leafy greens. Super versatile, and the best thing is, the whole family can enjoy, hope your family enjoys too x
Ingredients:
500g chicken thighs, (I’m not a major fan of thigh, but it does work well for this recipes, otherwise feel free to use breast)
1/2 Cup Capilano Honey, or just sub if you have none (rice malt, medjool date syrup, maple syrup)
1/2 Cup Soy Sauce
1/4 Cup Oyster Sauce
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon finely grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon Chinese five spice
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Method:
Remove all fat from Chicken, and then dice or slice to your liking. Combine in a glass dish with lid, add all of the ingredients except the Sesame seeds, allow to marinade for 1 hr, or overnight if your prepping ahead.
Drain marinade from Chicken before cooking and set aside.
Heat a non stick frying pan over medium heat, cook half of the meat continually turning and allowing to caramelize. Once cooked, set aside in a bowl and add the second batch. Continue to cook the same way, once Chicken is cooked through, add a little extra marinade and allow to bubble over chicken for a nice sticky chicken.
There you have it, super simple, super easy and super yummy!!
As mentioned add it to anything you like.
